How to convert a Flextone II from 110v to 220v?

Recommended Posts

I have a Flextone I 60 watt amp that I bought brand spanking new in Bangkok in the late 90's. It is 220v. It finally died. I just bought a used Flextone II Plus on ebay but it is from the USA.... so it's 110v. Here in Thailand we use 220v. Can I just swap the transformer from my 220v Flextone I into my new Flextone II Plus and Bob's your uncle? Or are there other components that also need to be changed? I don't live in Bangkok anymore.... I live on a little island. So the nearest "authorized" service/repair shop is a huge pain in the lollipop and a big expense to get to..... so I'll probably be doing this myself or with the help of a local repair man. Any help is appreciated.

AFAIK L6 never used a switchable transformer in their amps so you would need the correct one. I would shoot them an email and see if the Flex I tranny is the same for the Flex II - just to make sure you don't make 2 bricks. :)
