I love the Greenbacks most of any speaker but...

The problem I have with them is they are very dark. And I'm currently using a Les Paul. So how can I brighten up the speaker some? I love the sweetness they have. They sound sweeter than any other speaker.

I try to avoid the equalizers in this unit because they are simply too hard to understand and configure.

And the Q Filter at the front of the signal chain idea is not a good one either because that queer device is so strange it makes your guitar sound like a thousand bees that have nasal allergies.

What Hurganico said, plus make sure you are using the SM57 off axis mic.

Depending on the amp, I sometimes use a Tube Screamer (as the last effect block before the amp) to boost the top a bit more.

Edit: I'm using an LP too, with low-wind PAFs from OX4.

BillBee has a point, although I've often found that EQ is not necessary - just careful selection / setup of amp, cab, mic and overdrive can do the trick.

357mag is right that the HD EQs are a bit of a challenge at first, but the evergreen and wonderful MeAmBobbo's HD Tone Guide is there to help. Here's the section on EQ. Keys to the kingdom.

The HD EQs are a bit of a challenge ??????  They're friggin' horrible.  But that's what will make it sound good.  Or you could spend thousands of dollars for something that's only a little bit better but has nice EQs.

Why does everything that's pretty damn good always have one thing that flat out sucks ?
