Zinc Rechargeable Batteries

 Share

Recommended Posts

I want to use 6 rechargeable AAs in my Variax 500 but of course, they don't produce enough power.

Zinc rechargeables are 1.6v each, 6 would therefore have 9.6v.  Any problems with doing this?  I've read a little about legacy Variax issues with repairs if anything went wrong so I want to be sure.

Thanks

Peter

This is going to sound ridiculous now but we have plenty of 'normal' rechargeables around that are 1.2v and when I looked around I found the zinc ones at 1.6 but I've not seen Alkaline ones over here, but probably just not looking in the right place!  They seem like the perfect anwer!

Cheers

Pete

I use regular 1.2V NIMH rechargables in my 500 all the time.  They work fine.  Not sure why you would have trouble with them.  I have two sets of 2500MaH that I cycle through.  The board has a regulator so the slightly higher voltage batteries would also work.  I wouldn't use anything less than 2000 MaH batteries though due to the high current drain of these guitars.
