I'm considering buying a Stagesource L2M or L3M to use as an onstage monitor for my JT59 Variax & Pod HD500. I'm impressed by the Smart Speaker Modes on the SS gear: it would of course be ideal to have a different speaker mode when playing an HD500 patch that uses an acoustic Variax model than when using a patch set up for an electric model (different eq, crossover point, etc).
My question: can I change the Speaker Mode on the L2M with the HD500? I don't want to have to press the SM button on the back of the L2M every time I switch to an HD500 acoustic patch, so is there some way I can make the L2M speaker mode setting part of the patch?
I read that this was addressed by HD500 update 2.10:
"StageSource Speaker Support: The update also enables POD HD Pro and POD HD500 to integrate with StageSource loudspeakers in revolutionary new ways. You can instantly recall StageSource Smart Speaker modes via POD HD presets, making StageSource and POD HD Pro or HD500 the ultimate integrated FRFR (Full Range Flat Response) guitar system. You can switch from a full-range acoustic sound for the verse to a dialed-in 2 x 12” guitar cabinet for the chorus—with just the press of a footswitch. You can also change to Keyboard mode for dramatic guitar synth soundscapes. Add multiple StageSource speakers via L6 LINK for stereo effects configuration, wet/dry/wet setups, and more."
...but I'm still not sure from this description if it will do what I want, and exactly how to do it. There's no setting on the HD500 hardware or on the Mixer/L6 Link tab of the HD500 Edit software for saving Speaker Mode so I assume the SM must be set on the L2M. Does "recall" mean that HD500 recognizes the Speaker Mode that is currently set on the L2M & makes it part of the patch? So setting up a patch would now include making sure the L2M mode setting is on the appropriate mode for that patch?
