Pod Hd500 Cd/mp3 In Does Not Output Stereo

Hi,

Recently, maybe I've never noticed before, I noticed my MP3 input jack only provides right signal through my headphone on HD500. I checked my cable, iPod, and headphone and they work fine as they should. But when iPod is plugged into CD/MP3 jack, I only hear my jam track through my right ear. While I hear my guitar both right and left, I hear my jam track on my right ear only. Left signal is really really faint. Is this how it supposed to be or can I change my configuration on HD500?

Thanks for your help.

Eric

That's very odd. I would recheck your equipment. Make sure the plug you are using from you iPod is a stereo - not mono - plug, and that it is fully inserted into the HD500 cd/mp3 input jack. Also independently double check your headphones to make sure they are working properly, in stereo.

The analog cd/mp3 input signal is passed directly to the analog stereo outputs; it is not converted to a digital signal and it is not processed internally at all by the HD500. So there is very little chance that the HD500 is the problem. Certainly there is no HD500 configuration you can perform to resolve things. The only way the HD500 could be at fault is if there is a hardware problem in the cd/mp3 input jack or its internal routing circuitry. This is possible but not likely.

  • 1 year later...

and that the plugs is fully inserted...

and that the cable isn't faulty...

The 1/8 to 1/8 stereo leads are nearly the least reliable leads I have ever owned, the worst are the micro USB ones used to charge phones and tablets - basically the smaller the format the less metal and the quicker it breaks somewhere.
