Input signal to POD XT - can a synth guitar sound be used?

Recommended Posts

I know that synth sounds can be used to generate guitar sounds in the PodXT going to my PA sound system, but I was wondering if anybody here could elaborate with more technical information on the pros & cons of not using an actual guitar, i.e. explain what is technically going on at the 1/4" input signal with regard to the modeling technology inside the PodXT.

Is the 1/4" input just like a mic input, or does the PodXT expect something exactly like an electric guitar sound to be used?

Please?

Thanks,
