Hello,

I'm looking to purchase a hard case for my HD500. I can't seem to find any on the guitar center or musicians friend web site. Any suggestions for something that will work?

Thanks,

Heath

Take a look at this, it's not a real hard case but it's very nice and very protective.

It fits the HD500 like a glove :D

Hi Heath. I'm a happy user of one of these CNB cases. I put some foam (not much) around it to keep it tight.

This is an Australian seller, but should show you what the case is: http://ponymusic.com...d-product-flyer

That is a nice case. I guess I should have been more specific. I'm looking for a hard case where I can take the top off and use the hd500 without having to remove the unit from the case. I think they refer to it as a road case. Just having trouble finding one.

Thx man !

I ordered the CNB PDC-410E hard case from Rondo Music several years ago for my then X3L.  I still use it for my HD500 and it's still going strong.  When I use it with an XLR (to attach to my DT25 the XLR hangs over the lip a bit, but not in a way that concerns me.

Haven't seen anyone post any cases that would be reliable for you, so I figured I'd help you out.  These cases are the best cases made.  I have one for an X3L (which I am hoping to convert to fit my HD500), and it is VERY heavy duty and rugged. You will not find a better case out there at this price.  As you can see there is extra space behind the pod to run wires, etc, and also a nice place to put another wah or volume next to it.

I Have this case from Seismic Audio for my analog board, but you might look at some of their other models for size.

A very well made P-Board case. I've had mine for about five years now..

Hehe.  I'm lazy and cheap.  I just use a 6' XLR mic cable.  Works fine.

Check this one out, great design.  Don't know why you can't buy a case like this in the US.

I build cases custom to what you need.  I recently made one for my HD 500 which the pedal is attached to via four of the feet mount screws.  It also has an external, recessed jack plate to connect all wires.  I am still working on a connection for the variax VDI cable but I would be glad to make a custom made, flip top, tolex covered, hard shell case for your rig.  Mine is super protected and because of the way it is mounted, no foam necessary.  I have even made them with rack spaces for wireless units and one with a slide out tray for effects pedals outside of the HD 500.  Reply with your interest and we can talk.

I know this is a little different than what your looking for,  but I'm thinking of going this route for a few reasons.

1. good heavy duty case and board.

2. Allows me to velcro attach the 500 so it doesn't bounce around in the case.

3. Pedal board allows enough room for an additional expression pedal or tuner, if needed later down the road.

4. Case has storage for cables and such things.

5  Case has wheels to allow you to pull it like luggage through an airport.

Not a bad deal for the money, a friend of mine has one and it nice.

Nooob here :)
So one thing I'm confused about here (since pics no longer exist) If I get a Rondo case to travel with my 500, and want to mount it to the case (road case)...do I mount it to the top of the Rondo case? It seems if I mounted the 500 to the 'normal' bottom of the case the unit would be too sunken in there to stomp the buttons....but mounting it to the shallow top section would not effect the use of it....I hope I'm explaining myself properly......can anyone help me out???
Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I get what you mean. I used a Rondo case for that same concept when I had an X3L. I bought some thick / dense type grey foam, and did a whole custom slice up to velcro the X3L into the "lid" (shallow part) of the Rondo case, since when you open the case, the two pieces detach from each other.

I cut the foam to sit inside the lid, so there was something under the POD, but you probably don't even need to do that. At the time I was also using the EX-1 external expression pedal, so I also made room for that to the side of the X3L, and even channeled out slots in the foam to run the 1/4" cables. Overall, it works well. The lid side that you would velcro the HD500 to is relatively thin, and so you just have to get used to lifting your foot up slightly more to hit the pedals.

One thing I can say, is with the foam under it, it gave the action of pressing your foot down a "spongy" feel, which is not ideal, and if I end up ever recreating the concept for my HD, I would either use less spongy material under the POD, or just skip putting a layer under it all.

Found this pic in the archived forum, was surprised it still linked through!Looks like the source pic is on Glenn DeLaune's website:

Many years ago I converted a small synthesizer case into a pedal board case. I had a local company replace the fixed hinges with removable ones and voila a perfect case. Recycling, right?
