brokenbones
Like the title says... i'm looking to rig up a fairly hot single coiled sized humbucker in one of my strats (bridge) for live shows. Will I need to do to a lot of tweaking to my patches so they don't clip or distort? Does anyone use the same distortion patches for either pickup setup? cruisinon2
Nobody can answer this question for you. You're the only one who will hear the difference once you swap the pickups...some patches may require just a little adjustment, and others may have to be completely reworked. There are WAY too many variables for anyone here to guess, when all we know for certain is that you're replacing an unidentified single coil with an unidentified humbucker. pianoguyy
For the most part, I use the same patches. I do have specific patches for specific guitars and songs (it is a job requirement). I mean, you aren't going to use a BC Rich Warbeast to play a Hank Williams. Nor would Martin D-50 be used to play Slayer. But in general, my theory is... I have a standardized process for making patches and setting volumes and etc. I make a patch using my baseline and then the guitars bring out the differences. That is why we have different guitars - they are different than each other. If you make a patch with, as example, distortion set to 8 (out of 10). Switch to a "hot" guitar to get a heavier sound. Switch to a mellow guitar to get a clean tone. But, as mentioned in above - We aren't you, we aren't going to be able to answer the question. But, most likely, you will need to tweak. Probably even make an entire new set of patches.
