jooman77
My helix sounds strange. I had it to a point where it was sounding great and just the other day it started sounded harsh and unnatural almost like the amp tone was sort of digitally clipping an interface (but it is not). I had lots of great presets that sounded wonderful and now they sound off and not good. It sounds pretty bad in all cases. I have made sure the impulse is working tried many different IRs and cabs. Checked all the global settings and the global EQ is bypassed. I have tried it through all the the inputs and several outputs through different sources. Can't figure it out. Would love some help. Thanks!

Thanks! My first guess would be that something has changed in your global settings or your monitoring setup but sometimes it is just your ears. Perception and what constitutes a "great" tone can definitely change from one session to the next, particularly if you get ear fatigue from a long tweaking session. Thats what I thought but nothing in the global settings helped. Man it seems weird because I've been using these patches for awhile live and in the studio so it seems weird they would sound so different to me.Thanks for your input! olivierJez
If there is a real big difference on all your patches, you could do a factory reset and reinstall your patches to see if that fix your problem. could it be a jack or earphone that got busted... ? VirtualGuitars
If you upgraded your firmware and then reset your Helix to get the new firmware presets, you have have selected the reset footswitch sequence that resets your presets AND your Global Settings which may have changed what you had set before. Just a thought. I did this once, so that's why I'm offering it as a possibility.

Thanks! Did this happen after an update? If not, you may have a hardware issue and you should open a support ticket.
spikey
Can you give us a "step by step" of exactly what you did (if anything) just before when it was sounding good, and then just after when the amp tone was sort of digitally clipping the interface? Don't leave out anything. Did you, for instance, have a power interruption at the house/practice place, etc?

It did happen after I updated to 2.50 but not immediately. Noticed a day or two after. Then I updated to 2.52 because I thought that would fix it. It unfortunately did not. I was using it to practice with headphones one night and I noticed it started to sound weird. I thought it was the headphones so I took them off and used my studio monitors and they had the same weird sound happening. I was just switching between presets I had used all the time. I thought it was an issue with 2.50 which I had just updated a few days ago so I updated to 2.52 (properly with the new HX edit) and that didn't help either. There had been couple power outages the night before if recall correctly. Do you think that could've effected it? Appreciate the help

Appreciate the help Power surges associated with power outages could definitely affect it if the Helix isn't isolated in some way. It's definitely worth opening a support ticket.
