I have the dream rig, HD500 JTV59 DT25, and when it is all working right it can sound great. But way too often lately I seem to be having wierd issue with the DT25. For example, when I turn everything on the DT 25 sounds all "farty" or the whole patch is overdriven in a bassy way. Other times, I will turn it on and the patches from the HD500 won't register properly so I get a combination of all the effects in the HD5oo patch AND all the effects from the top of the DT25 mixed together. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else had the same issue.

Thanks.

Perhaps the cable you're using for the L6 Link connection is faulty?

I don't think it's the cable, it's only 5 months old

Well, it would be worth checking out, imo. The age of the cable doesn't necessarily matter. Solder joints can go bad at any time. It does happen.

Does the DT25 sound OK if you plug directly into using a 1/4" connection?

It sounds like it only happens when you first turn it on.

I would be aware of the order I connected things and turned them on. There may be an issue there.

For example, is it always bad/good if you do: power on amp, power on HD500, connect using L6 link? Change the order of these things. Does that make a difference?
