Hi there long time line 6 user but newbie to the Variax world.

Just bought a used Variax 300 and wondering what are the best options for connecting it to my PC to use the workbench and if it also can connect to other Line 6 products.

I currently have a Flextone 3 and POD XT (Desktop Version)

The workbench software/cable seems to be in short supply on ebay etc.. at least here in Europe and thought there might be a way of connecting via another Line 6 Device?

Thanks !

You can connect to Workbench through any Line 6 device that has a VDI interface. That would be the Vetta II, XTL, X3L, HD500 or the POD HD Pro (thinks that's all of 'em off the top of my head).

EXCEPTION: the 500x\PROX will not work with the original workbench software.

I agree with that.  A used X3 live might not cost any more than the interface unless you can find somebody unloading the interface on Ebay.  It's too bad because the interface would be dirt cheap if they were not bundling it with the "Free" WB software.

Big advantage to that decision is you get the additional functionality of the X3 Live which is a nice unit.  Since it's not the latest and greatest they are available fairly cheap compared to a new Pox HD500.

Where can the "free" workbench software be obtained? I have a V300 and an HD500.
