Variax 500 Vdi Cable Cutting Out With Hd500x

 Share

Recommended Posts

As above really. HD500x brandnew. Guitar old now. Not really used VDI till I bought HD500X. I have the Line 6 official vdi cable. Seems to cut out when I move a certain way. I have to jiggle the cable to get it to come back on. Got first gig with new band next week and now my sounds are reliant on HD500x but I can't even get through one song at rehearsal. So frustrating.

Anyone else had this problem?

Three possibilities: the cable, the VDI jack on the JTV, or the VDI jack on the HD500x. Try to narrow it down. The cable can be tested by using a standard RJ-45 (Ethernet) cable temporarily; just be careful with it due to lack of protective shields at the cable ends.

As for testing the device VDI jacks - do you have access to other JTV or Pod HD devices?

I have the same problems for quite a while. I brought the guitar  back to the Line6-shop 2 times for this problem but it was never fixed although they were convinced that they had solved it. There was no change. Putting the guitar off/on power solves it for a little while. (Conclusion: I never use the guitar)

I would be glad to find a solution.

I would open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 on this.

If your guitar was under warranty when you first took it in for repair to the line 6 shop, you are entitled to have the problem resolved. If your local shop can't do it, it is Line 6's obligation to arrange to have it fixed properly or replaced. If it's not under warranty you will have to pay for the proper repairs.

It is already a few year ago. I did go back after the first time. The problem was intermittent and hard to reproduce. So I received it back and came to the conclusion that they did not fixed it.

The shop in Gent is quite a distance from home and at that time it was no option for me to go back.

It's a pitty. I never played the guitar much although my friend has the same guitar and he is quite pleased with it.

Do you have any suggestions so I can fix it myself? thanks in advance

I realise this thread is a few months old but did you get it sorted?

I had a similar problem with my Variax and new HD500. It turned out I was using the wrong power supply! That'll teach me to have extra pedals. Once the correct HD500X supply was plugged in (which is now AC, not DC like the old ones and the Variax one is), it worked perfectly.

I had and have the same problem. When I take a long time not playing enough voltage receives (or amperage. Electric I do not know).

Sounds like a great failure of a large company like Line 6. They should find the solution. Know if the U.E. USA no problems or voltage, but in Argentina, and even in small towns, is unfortunately likely to happen.

I love the combination of my POD X3 Live and my Variax 700 guitar, when it works I feel there is nothing better, but when it fails (and may be at the wrong time) I do not know if you break on the floor or sit and mourn.

The truth is that if I had known there was a possibility of failure like that would never have bought.

Sorry for drafting errors, I am using a translator
