Pardon me for an elementary question.  Newly purchased Spider IV.  Presets work great.  When I attempt to set a channel manually to distortion, such as "Metal", Drive maxed out, I get very little if any distortion. I watched video on Line 6 website to set amp to get a "Van Halen" sound.  Followed settings as shown and still get not much in the way of distortion.  What am I doing wrong?

Is the volume on your guitar all the way up?

Note that when you change settings (such as a preset or to manual), you need to 'wake up' any of the controls by touching/turning it.  If you had 'Drive' cranked up all the way, then changed the preset/manual setting, Drive would revert to what that preset is.
