Dt25: 8000000a "unspecified Error" When Loading V2.0

Hi folks,

UPDATE: First questions answers but Zap.
Next problem is now I get a 8000000A "An undefined error occured", Monkey says the DT25 says the firmware is now unknown from the original V1.0 and the amp DNF.

Tried restarting the amp, my computer and both, downloading and loading the firmware from my computer.

When I restart monkey and select the DT25 and midi connection is reads "if you are sure that your MIDI Out is connected to the MIDI in for the correct device you may proceed without verification using your selected midi ports."

It definately is connected the specified way round,.

It looks like this is a reasonably common problem. Any other ideas/suggestions?

Original post:

"I've got a DT-25 and am about to update it to V2.0.

I have a Alesis USB to Midi cable- basicall a USB on one end and the MIDI output/input on the other. As I am not using stand along MIDI cables into a separate MIDI interface do the jacks still need to go output->input and vice versa?

Thanks in advance for you help."

be sure to try the rear usb ports, i'd also recommend getting the drivers for your interface directly from the manufacturer if there is one (generic usb/midi only has generic OS drivers)

trying a different computer, or downloading and flashing from the file might help as well.

I'm having the same problem.  Tried it through a USB to MIDI cable and the L6 connector through the HD 500.  Anyone know how to fix this?

The HD500 USB does NOT support updating DT firmware via the System Link. You need a separate midi interface.

+1 Zap.

I managed to brick my DT25 once during beta. I was using my very old UNO interface on an HP laptop as I recall...Anyhoo, I have an EMU 1820 on my DAW which is a PCI interface that has two separate midi interfaces...Anyway, I never ran down what my problem really was...But using the DAW and the EMU recovered the amp...The amp midi interface will still function when the firmware bricks...You just gotta get things right with the interface (different PC, interface or figure out what the issue is with your current setup like insuring the interface drivers are current and installed cleanly)

Thanks.  I tried a separate midi interface before I tried the L6 link, and got the same error.  I tried it again using the midi to usb cable, different usb ports on the computer and tried using a different computer, also with the same error.

Is there any reduced fuctionality using the old firmware on the DT 25 in conjunction with the latest firmware on the HD 500?

Not sure if you have an UNO or not...anyhoo.

One issue I know of with the UNO...This is a very old issue...If you load the driver from the CD that came with the UNO, it will not update Line 6 devices (dates back ti Flextone III days I know)...If that is the case, it is a bit of a pain to get the computer cleaned out...M-Audio has a driver removal tool that will remove the left over bits of the driver...Then download the current driver and install.

Probably a stupid question, but do you have the midi cables backwards? The reason I ask is that it is pretty common that happens because the UNO cables are marked for where they go, NOT what they are. (ie: TO MIDI IN and TO MIDI OUT)

A different PC and usb ports didn't help. Cheers for you help folks, the amp has been returned to the shop.

You just gotta get things right with the interface (different PC, interface or figure out what the issue is with your current setup like insuring the interface drivers are current and installed cleanly)

If it is so sensative I feel Line 6 should release more in depth notes on the installation and setip. Including which midi to USB and firmware has proven to work.

I had same issue. For me it wasn't Line 6, I had failed to update drivers for UNO midi interface.  Once I went to their website, obtained Win7 drivers, it was a snap.

Be sure all drivers are loaded for all devices being used.  Reboot all, then try again.

Got same problem but solved it easy. 1st I was thinking it was my cheap usb midi interface but that wasnt the problem. I just registered my dt25 as asked in monkey and it work the 1st time after many hours of failures.

I am getting this error when trying to update my firmware to 2.0 so that I can use my HD500 with edit and not get errors. Here are the steps that I have taken:

  1. When my generic USB-MIDI cables didn't work, I bought the UNO MIDISPORT from Maudio and installed the updated driver (win 7 sp1).
  2. I read that sometimes these drivers are "wonky" and used the uninstall app from m-audio to fully remove the driver from the system and re-install.
  3. Tried both MIDI plugs (in and out - both ways)
  4. Tried using an old XP computer, my wife's PC who uses Vista, and even a friends Mac
  5. Thinking the midi in port/jack might be busted, I tested them by using MIDI Ox and Rolf's DT edit to insure that I was getting MIDI to and from the amp (and I am).  I get MIDI data back on the display in MIDI Ox when i fiddle the buttons.  I can use Rolf's DT Edit tool to switch the channels/settings on the amp with my PC.  So, I know Midi is working.
  6. resetting the amp (pinch the channel select and pent/triode switches together)
  7. turn it on in safe-mode by holding the channel toward B for 10 seconds when turning it on.  This doesn't appear to be working at all as I get no signal to/from the amp this way
  8. Opened a ticket on line 6 3 days ago now which they ask me one question per day (did you try the most up-to-date drivers?) despite me outlining all of this initially.

Every combination of those above yields the 80000000A error. Monkey can't even detect what is on it.  Very frustrating.

I fixed it.  It was already registered.  I rolled back the firmware to 1.00 then re-flashed to 2.00 and it took.  I think it was the M-Audio drivers that fixed it.

Im in the same boat, failed with generic usb-midi so after much hair pulling purchased m-audio midisport uno (as recommended). No difference here. Support ticket was replied to saying try with midi connections in other sockets etc and alternate usb sockets, done that no change. One thing I noticed though was that when the amp was powered off and I plugged the "to midi in" on the uno, to the midi out on the DT25 (as suggested by support) the DT25 main red led illuminates. This does not light up with any other cable in any socket. I would like to know if the led should be lit with the amp power off and what power state the amp should be in when attempting the firmware update, i.e. off, standby, fully on? Anyone got any ideas? Will ask on my support ticket see what the reply is.

i too have a bad monkey error 80000000A,  i bought a very cheep Midi to usb interface , i should say i do not know very much about midi and hope i can get some tips on what it is im doing wrong .  i got the drivers for my midi interface and my computer says its working fine , when i plug it into my DT25 it does not see the Version that it is, ive re set the amp by pinching the class and pentode switch together while turning on the amp and with no luck and i also tryed to do the update with the amp in safe mode by holding  the channel b switch down while turning on the amp with no success. Is their more than one type of midi to usb interface ? thank you for your time on this matter any help is much appreciated

I got the same error code and fixed it by REGISTERING MY DT50 2X12 on the Line 6 website and then restarting monkey and downloaded from the file. It's the button below the "Update Selected" button on the monkey screen. Hope it works for u as well.

I had this error of 8000000A also when trying to update. I also registered my DT25 and tried again, nope. Then I read the instructions on the Flash Memory download page:

Procedure:

  • Connect your MIDI interface to your computer via USB cable

  • Connect the DT25 MIDI Output to your MIDI interface Input, and connect the DT25 MIDI Input to your MIDI interface Output

  • Launch the Line 6 Monkey with the DT25 connected via the MIDI interface and powered on

  • Select the Flash Memory line item and click the Update Selection button to install the flash memory update into the DT25

  • The device will receive the firmware data and the unit will be updated to the latest Firmware

My mistake was using only one midi cable. Once I connected the other Midi cable to the DT25 Midi Out to the Midi In on my Midiman 1x1 connected to my Mac the update worked. When the update is being done all lights on the DT25 amp are on.

After the update the Monkey shows the updated firmware as 2.0, this didn't show anything before it updated, just the usual warrning Triangle with the ! in the middle.

Hope this helps someone.

Jd
