I have a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 that I use as my audio interface. What I'm mainly interested in is re-amping my dry tone. I have methods that work, but there was one method in particular that I was hoping would work, but it doesn't seem to. I want to send my dry tone from the 6i6 S/PDIF output to the HD Pro S/PDIF input. I would like to have the dry tone re-amped and sent back out the HD Pro S/PDIF output to the 6i6 S/PDIF input. When I set it up like this, the 6i6 can't sync with the HD Pro. So I have two questions: Does the HD Pro, by design, not work with both S/PDIF In and Out simultaneously? If so, I would have hoped that would have been mentioned in the user manual for the HD Pro. I can get a lock when using either input or output, but not both. Assuming the dry tone was recorded over S/PDIF, Would the preferred way of re-amping be A) to send the dry tone out of an analog channel of the 6i6, into the HD Pro (front or line in) and then record the wet tone over S/PDIF out of the HD, or B) to send the dry tone over S/PDIF to the HD Pro, and record the wet tone using either the unbalanced or balanced outputs? wicker_man Posted January 25, 2014 Share Posted January 25, 2014 I get spiking on my S/PDIF channel if I have both input and output connected simultaneously between my HD Pro and Presonus Firestudio Mobile. I've still not worked out why this is - at first I thought it was because of a naff breakout cable for the S/PDIF on the Firestudio. However, re-amping works a treat if I record dry via S/PDIF by connecting just one cable and then swap the input/output over from for the re-amping. chain321 Posted July 5, 2014 Share Posted July 5, 2014 I have pod hd pro x. I also want to reamp using DIGITAL means, because of noise being picket up from my FW410. I cant get the SPDIF in to work at all.. Also nothing about it in "advanced" manual. Please respond. Ok! So i figured this out myself - there is "SPDIF L" option under setup, guitar input 2 (i didnt see this option before - somehow it popped up) Felt like there is something buggy, but at least it works now.
