Custom "funny" Alternate Tuning For 12 Strings Models

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to do custom "funny" alternate guitar tuning with 12 strings in Workbench HD?

This is the tuning I'm trying to do (for the Genesis song Cinema Show):

Tune the high string of the 4th pair of strings (D) down to A, so
the notes form a fifth. Tune the high string of the 3rd pair (G)
down to E, so the notes form a sixth, thusly:

    1st    E
    2nd    B
    3rd    G/e
    4th    D/a
    5th    A
    6th    E

How would I do in Workbench HD in order to get that tuning?

You can have alternate tuning on 12-string models, and you can make any model a 12-string by turning on parallel pitch in Workbench, but you can't have the octave string be another note than the base string. You can adjust the octave string's pitch by a semitone in either way by changing the "cents" parameter, but that's really there for fine tuning purposes. So you won't be able to have the 3rd and 4th strings play completely different notes like you want.

I Think I've found a "little" workaround: I will use standard tuning with the real mag pickups & tune a 6 strings of a variax model like the 6 others strings of the 12 strings tuning I'm looking for. Then I will use "Variax" as the input on my pod X3 live in order to get both guitars playing at the same time. I might have to add a little delay on the simulation model...
