Digitech Istomp Blowout At $39.99 On Mf. Bought 2. Opinions On Them?

Saw musiciansfriend had these little puppies on clearance for $39.99 so I grabbed two. Anyone else here used them? Mine are arriving tomorrow. Figured I couldn't go wrong with 2 stomps I can choose and configure for less than an M5.

The whole issue of being tied to iOS devices isn't really an issue for me. We have 5 of the damn things around the house, so keeping one around for a while won't be too tough. But I digress. So, anyone used them?

I bought one a few weeks ago. It's cool for what it is, especially at that price. I have mine set to the "Angelic Choir" effect which is kind of similar to Line 6's OctoVerb.

Two of them are less than the M5, but they're all quite less flexible. You have to hook up your iPhone or iPad whenever you want to switch effect types. There's no screen on the pedal itself, so you either have to use the little sticker label things or just remember what the parameters are.

I'm not ragging on the product overall. I just think the concept could have been refined a bit more.

I thought I was getting a good deal at $50 so your $40 purchase trumps my deal.

Initially, these are a cool, and its nice that they are giving out almost all the software for free (but given the price, it looks like they are abandoning it.) I thought it was nice that they sent me all the stickers for all the pedals at no charge.

I'm a sucker for digital effects (though I probably play 80% unplugged)

I actually prefer my Zoom MS-G50 as a grab and go single pedal - I can create one or more pedal chains with or without amp sims, rather than being stuck with just a single effect and having to plug it into an iDevice in order to change patches. The new MS-G100BT is like the iStomp in that you can update it with new patches via bluetooth beyond what is installed at hte factory.

But, for $40, it can't hurt to have a couple of these in the pedal bag as a fill in.

My plan is to use one as tremolo at all times before my Pod and maybe use the other one as the "glimmer drive" for dirt or a clean boost depending on the knobs. I already downloaded all the pedals and requested the labels, so hopefully tomorrow when they arrive I can try a few different things out and see what I like. My m5 had too many issues, I couldn't trust it.

That would be cool. I'm very happy with the pedals, as I will use one for an acoustic simulator instead of using a $1500 guitar to do the same. The other will be most likely a tremolo pedal or maybe a chorus. Just bought a bigger pedalboard so I can fit everything hehe. Bought a Relay G50 so it's gotta fit along with two new pedals. Ran out of real estate.
