Where Can I Find Replacement Bridge Height Saddle Screws For My Jtv-69s?

Recommended Posts

Remove one that is not stripped and take it with you to a good hardware store that has metric setscrews.  Relieve the string tension before moving those screws and I would replace them all because the originals are junk and the  tools that come with the JTV are garbage.

Jeez...why do I get the feeling that I'm gonna be replacing the whole bridge at some point, if not an entire transplant?

Replacing the screws isn't a big deal.  For a few pennies per screw you can have decent ones that won't give you problems.

Oh I know...just seems the list of sub-standard parts keeps growing. Already considering a different neck, as the nut spacing is absurdly small for me. Do most of my playing on a custom build that has the widest neck I've ever seen on an 6 string electric guitar, and a nearly flat...almost classical guitar radius...so this has been quite an adjustment for me. Some things I just flat out cannot play below the 4th or 5th fret.

either way, flat or shallow-cone-shaped, I would need a sharp conical end for the screws to keep in track with the fine grooves on the trem plate.  This is what keeps the bridge saddles equidistant from one another, and I would want to make sure they remain that way.  Also, the one set of screws that were the right height, were described in standard measurement.

I looked into the Ghost system saddles, just to replace all the saddles altogether, but it's just frustrating that if Line 6 were actually thinking about it's customers, they would have provided extras, or provided an easy way to find replacement parts, or just make it well in the first place.  My wrench is even stripped.  Really cheap parts anyway, to cheapen the wrench and screws even more with softer metal.

Yeah, I have some good alan wrenches as well :) .  I work for a local luthier here in ATX and we've got some good stuff!  Anyway, I've heard the GraphTech Ghost saddles may have less quack, but they are made where they are butted up right next to each other, so warble (especially on alt tunings) is supposed to be worsened.

I guess, to add, it would also be less frustrating if the saddles didn't shift every time I replace the strings, making it imperative to have to re-adjust them.  I find that I like the JTV69s more now that I've gotten used to Workbench HD and have finally manipulated a nice sound out of the guitar, but the saddles make a bad name for all of the other parts that work decent.  :)

Did anyone find out what type of set screw is used for the JTV-69S saddles and where to order it? One of mine popped out and I have to replace it by this Saturday. I've already started a support ticket with Line 6 but need to find a solution ASAP. If you have one you can spare, I'll pay you for your trouble and send you the one I get from Line 6.

If you're under a time crunch,  I suggest you take it to any decent luthier, and see if they have something on hand that fits. Judging by some recent complaints around here regarding support ticket response times, your Saturday deadline is likely to come and go before you hear from L6. I seriously doubt there's anything exotic about those screws...any half-way respectable repair shop should have something that will work in a pinch. If you want you can always get a matching one later...

Elantric over on vguitarforums hipped me to the fact that these are the same thread as the Fender import screws. So I have one of those installed as a temporary fix while I await the arrival of a permanent replacement. Here are the specs:

thread: M3 x 0.5

length: 6mm

point: cone

I just ordered a pack of 5 from a UK seller on eBay. I'll let you all know how it works out.

That's good to know...if it fits, it fits.

Stay tuned for someone to claim that there will be a tonal difference on that one string with the off-brand screw, though... ;)
