"pan" Automation With A Footswitch On Hd500

Hi all...

I am planning to use the Pan effect on HD500 to select either of the two signal paths. I would like to control it with a footswitch. Is this possible?

I am aware that I may use an expression pedal to do that, but I wonder whether I can do it with a footswitch.

I plan to put an FX unit on one path and a modeled amp on the other signal path. The reason to do that is; I want to be able to select either my amp's preamp section or a modeled amp inside HD500. I do not intend to blend both of them.

In summary, the thing in my mind is; if I press a footswitch, it will utilize the external amp's drive section and when I depress it, it will utilize a modeled amp inside HD500

Anyone with an idea?

try a vol pedal in each path after the split, both set to zero, one on, one off.  Go to controllers tab in HD Edit and assign them both to the same FS, no expression pedal assignment.  Now when you hit the foot switch, the one that is on will not allow any signal to pass so the volume pedal actually acts as a gate.  The one that is off allows the signal to pass with no effect.  Hit the switch again and it swaps.  Only good way I know to do it with a FS.  Maybe the experts have a better idea.
