The same preset can sound very good or horrible, depending on how I strum/strike/pluck the strings. Even hard hammer-ons and pull-offs can sound a bit nasty, while a softer touch sounds sweet. This has been my experience as well. Anything short of (almost) dainty technique gets me harsh overtones. This is why I started this thread, and why I nearly dealt all my gear just yesterday, the level of frustration was so high for me. They tend to use some EQ and no amp model to get the full range sound. It sounds great through a full range speaker or headphones. Sounds like Crap through my 5E3 amp. You can tweak until Doomsday..if you're running into any kind of electric guitar amp, its never gonna sound like a true acoustic. I can get some really convincing acoustic sounds through headphones, recording direct, or straight to a PA...but through an amp? Never been able to get there. Great idea! I also downloaded a new acoustic from Glen DeLaune and a bank of baritone acoustics but haven't had a chance to try them yet...
