krofty
The problem I'm having with my UX2 is that there is a strange white noise / humming sound coming from it. When I have my hand over the fret board muting the strings there is no noise but if there is any kind of sound coming from the guitar then the noise is there and it is really noticeable whilst muted notes. Here is a small clip demonstrating my issue. https://soundcloud.com/kroftey/noise
silverhead
Are you using a laptop computer? If so you may be experiencing a ground loop. To test, disconnect the power from your laptop and run on battery.
krofty
Nah I'm using a desktop PC. I've tried many different guitars and it's still there and it seems like the noise is there when nothing is plugged into the ux2.
gary9605
any chance you have a pwr cable running along side or over the UBS cable, or over your insturment cable?
krofty
I've tried it on a laptop thats unplugged and away from any other electrical devices so I'm thinking my UX2 is just faulty which is dissapointing.
silverhead
I am not sure it's the UX2 since the noise disappears when you mute the guitar strings. Have you tried using the Pad Input on the UX2? Another guitar cable? Another guitar (just to test)?
krofty
I have tried the pad input, another guitar cable, three other guitars, a different computer and a different USB cable. The noise is also there with a mic connected to the ux2 and even with nothing connected to the ux2. I'm pretty sure its not the pod farm patch either as I have tried multiple patches and amplitube just to test so I'm not sure what else to try. Cheers for the responses so far though
silverhead
At this point I would open a support ticket to deal directly with Line 6 on this. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html
Triryche
+1 to silverhead. Also if you just touch the strings or tuners does the sound lessen go away? If so it is likely a ground loop somewhere. Soundcloud is blocked where I am atm, I will listen to it when I get home later.
krofty
Here's a new clip that shows that when I put my hand over the strings the noise dissapears and when i take it off the noise is back for when you get a chance to listen (skip to 15 seconds) https://soundcloud.com/kroftey/test
Triryche
I think more than one thing is going on here. You may be picking up interference from you pc. and the reason it cuts in and out is the gate setting. But it doesn't sound like a ground loop. sashauk
Hi, I have the noise with plugged laptop. But once I disconnect the power and run on battery, the noise disappears. Please advice how to fix or what is the problem? Guitar cables and USB cables are fine. Using UX2 HP laptop Window 8.
