Just Startin' here' s is some light on this very dark subject http://www.fullcompa...uct/428836.html
I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH THE LINE 6 GUY The failure rate was thousandths of a single percent ... but it's not fun when it happens to you.…Well, it’s not fun when it happens to a lot of people and it’s not fun when they tell you & me & many others it’s our fault either.
Not in this forum but other forums about this subject this and other matters about this companies lack of customer service and blaming of customers due to a BAD DESIGN which they will not admit to but will release a replacement battery holder which can be purchased from here.
http://www.fullcompa...uct/428836.html but is surprisingly enough on back order or delayed order due to a sell out. I bought 6 ( line 6 get it? LOL)
KNOW THIS! YOU ARE NOT ALONE, now either they sold a bazillion units and a few broke OK, now you have that absurd percentage rate. But that is not the case. Without bashing… Line 6 directly as I use over 40 different products and have had nothing but great thing to say and will and still purchase certain items of gear that DO NOT USE THIS BATTERY CRADLE!!!
like I said been using line 6 since company started so, when the new wireless mics came out, I bought one $500.00 minus my discount and well, I opened my battery cradle and found it to be movable and giving line 6 way to much credit and benefit of the doubt thought WOW ! What an innovation, a shock mount built right in! (yeah I know now that was dumb) But I didn’t give it a second thought I hooked it up, it sounded amazing and I was sold. Out the door, night after night show after show right next to my $1,000 Shure performing flawlessly getting great reviews from the sound guys on tour. Well it got a few paint chips from my rings I wear while performing and actually the paint just plain wore off due to the rings. OK, now I’m about 8 months in, getting great performance and reliability as I could get 4 shows on a pair of lithium batteries! All was smooth sailing and was just about to buy another unit when…
I went to change the batteries one night and when I put the cap on it never stopped spinning , I did stop after 2 revs, but the damage was done, done long before that happened , the cradle had broken off at the bolt and the whole thing ( ribbon cable, lead cable, and cradle) twisted as I put the cap back on…
I was holding my mic in 2 pieces! WT*?
I called line 6 they said take it in to an authorized dealer and get it repaired ,no problem, until… he looked at it and had to send pictures in, now keep in mind this mic was in PERFECT condition and still is other than the paint of the metal part is worn off oh and the new battery cradle is broke again.
The tech at line 6 said uh that’s his fault and we are not warrantying it… really?
So after a call (or 7) to line 6 I managed to get ahold of someone who said they could help, get my receipt, dates etc. SUPPORT TICKET! Awesome! OK, finally a light at the end of the tunnel? No… they dragged it out 3 months and my warranty had expired. SO, it is in the crap pile, I am going to replace the cradle AGAIN when they finally can be shipped in a few weeks. I use line 6 gear a LOT OF IT! But I will never buy another mic with that battery cradle. It is just bad design that they should recall. I mean if it’s our fault and it only happens to 1,000ths or a percentage of buyers, why offer a replacement cradle at all? Because it has happened to almost everyone who has purchased this model. THAT’S WHY.
