Guitar Input Not Working

Hello,

I recently moved and when I went to plug my guitar back into my POD X3 Live, it no longer picked up the input.  Does anyone have any suggestions how I can fix this?

My current set up is guitar into POD, POD out to amp and the USB connected to my computer.  I checked the guitar cables to see if that was the problem and it worked just fine with my amp, but for some reason the POD isn't reading it.

Thanks!

Also try the tuner on the X3 - see if it is picking up the guitar signal. The tuner when engaged is the first thing that the incoming signal will encounter. Note that the Tuner only works with Tone 1. If the tuner can't see it the problem is likely external to the X3. If the tuner sees the signal the next check is the X3 headphones. If you don't hear anything there, problem is in the X3 - most likely an input or output setting but perhaps a hardware fault. If you hear the sound through the headphones, the next check will be the X3 outputs and downstream gear.

The POD X3 had issues with the input jack. It's not supported properly in the housing and it becomes easy to crack the solder joint that holds the jack to the circuit board.

You can try lightly pushing up or down on the guitar cable while it is plugged into the X3 and strumming your guitar. If you all of a sudden find the sound coming in and out you've found the problem.

You can take it to a repair person if you don't know how to solder, but in time the problem will come back. I need to research a way to better reinforce the jack, as I don't know if Line 6 will ever admit to the problem or offer a solution.

Any update on this? I have the same issue with my POD X3; the unit cuts out sound constantly because of the input jack. Pushing  up and down on the cable will is a temporary solution. I'm not under warranty, and I can't find a service center that will do the repair.

I would play it by ear but I have been soldering and making electronic stuff since the 60's.  The input jack connection may be an easy solder job.  I did not mean to be rude with my short post.  My guess is that the jack is hard connected to the board and that means that the connection can crack due to the leverage you have with the 1/4 jack going in there.  I had the cover off of mine once many years ago but I do not remember what that part looked like or what the access was.  It will be easy if the damage is easy to get to.  It's worth taking a look if you feel up to it.

You won't "see" the problem, and it us most likely a hair line fracture.

Take a soldering iron and some solder that contains resin and reheat the connections to the jack. That may help. If not you may have to remove the old solder and re-solder the jack. If you are not sure how to do this seat the help of a professional so that you do not ruin your unit.

The X3 is a good unit with some great tones. Once you get this fixed you'll be able to enjoy it.

Okay. So I called around to find out if there was a certified place to repair my POD X3. I found two in my area and called both. One of them said they didn't do repairs on Line 6 products, and the other apparently isn't around anymore. I called Line 6 about the repair centers in my area, particularly the one that sad they no longer did them; they said they would look into it seriously and get back to me. They never got back to me (but I did take down the person's name that called), and I placed another call, only to have the exact same conversation, and they didn't call me back. I took the unit into an audio repair store that claimed to be able to service Line 6 units after Line 6 didn't appear to want to help. Shelled out 80 dollars for a repair, got the unit back, it worked for about a month, and began having the same problem today. Thank you Line 6 for the awful customer service. You have lost a customer.

repair centers are independent.. so be sure to thank them as well.

Already did, and they are working with me, unlike Line 6. The issue isn't the independent repair center, it is the "Line 6 Certified Repair Centers" that don't actually exist in some areas, although they are advertised on the Line 6 Website and when you buy your Line 6 units from a retailer.
