Do you use the pre- or full ampmodels?

Recommended Posts

I use the pre models when running to the DT25 with the Line6 link.  Otherwise It would be modeling an amp and then sending it to my amp, which would also be trying to model an amp.

I use the full amp models when going into the effects return of my Vetta II and I would also use them if I were going out to a Stagesource speaker or PA.

My go to is pre models when running my DT-50 via L6. I also don't use cabinet models or mic simulation. On single amp patches, I center the mixer and on dual amp patches I pan about 30% L & R.

That's me trying to sound like me. If I am trying to sound like someone else, I might approach it a bit different. (But not by much I would imagine)

I use full amp HD500 and LVM on the DT25.

Pre's on the HD500 into full volume DT is just too frikken loud and squirrely for me.

Maybe when I retire out to the country, I'll take the time to iron out some full vol patches, but for now it sound pretty good.

I mainly use preamp models without cab and mic simulation when using my DT25 head and 2x12 cab. Occasionally I'll use a full model, but will still disable cab and mic. I never use LVM now, since the POD firmware update that improved the master and channel volume interaction with DT amps.

Always preamp models (1, 2, or no preamp at all).

All HD internal signal levels <= -12dbFS (checked via USB with HD master at 100%)

HD cab and mic models to taste (they are just hardwired EQ/compression models).

HD master to adjust volume to venue (around <=50% for home).

DT master usually at 2-3pm, sometimes higher, never less.
