Hi All

I am an age old user of the Guitarport, i have been using it for many MANY years (at least 9).

Anyway, i was thinking of upgrading to something newer, I notice that there is the UX1 and UX2. I wouldn't be doing any vocals etc so the UX1 is probably what i require.

As far as tone is concerned, is there more by upgrading. I see that the UX1 comes with Pod Farm 2, i already use Pod Farm 1 but just wondering what effects etc i would get by upgrading.

Any one care to chip in?

The only difference between PF1 and PF2 is that with PF2 you can put the effects in any order.  No additional effects unless you purchase the model packs, which could also be used with PF1.  There is no difference in tone between GuitarPort and UX.

I still have the UX2, I understand you don't do vocals but you still may want the ability to use the mic for other purposes.

I mostly play at home  and am always having fun learning how to play guitar so when I post a reply to try and help give ideas you know where I'm coming from. Rock-On!! Oh, and if I don't respond promptly I'm probably playing guitar or my computer locked up from multitasking 'cause I'm using Gear Box, HD500 Edit, Audacity and tab filled browsers all at the same time, Hahahaaaa. Surprisingly enough my 'puter handles the load more times than not. Lastly I'm not a salesman, I'm not trying to sell anyone anything here. "Riffcasts Riffworld" "RiffRumble Entry" "Shifftie" "M.O.S.U.A Two" "Bass Catszz" "Blasted Runtime Error I" "Match 30" "SoundCloud Playlist" "And Ya Know It"

If you have an X3 Live you already have the plug-in version of POD Farm 1 with all the model packs when using the X3 as a dongle.

It's neat how things can turn around with the right info.

Problem is that using the X3 is a bit of a pain in a desktop situation sadly,

One thing i need to ask about the UX1 is that i use my computers (good but not studio monitors) speakers, with the guitarport the unit itself is used as an external sound card with the speakers connected to the guitarport and the guitarport connected to the Mac via a headphone cable, is this the same set up on the UX1 (i think i need a small to large adapter going in the headphone socket on the front).

I use a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter for the headphones all the time.

The setup is the same.

But if you are connecting your speakers directly to the GuitarPort, there is no need to connect the Headphones to your Mac, unless I am understanding something.
