So just got and updated my new hd500 and once the update was done, no amp model has any sort of distortion.

All the presets that came on the unit do not have any sort of distortion. angel fball with gain on 100 and no other blocks filled with anything gives me a clean tone.

I am not new to line 6 products.

I have tried rolling back to a few diffrent updates with no luck

Try downloading the firmware manually, not through monkey, and then installing it with the monkey.
It may take more than one try anyway. Have you also tried different computers and/or usb cables?

Wow!  That is a bit of a wipe out.  Try a global settings reset on the offchange that it clears the issue.  Hold down the navpad-Left directional key and power-on the unit.  You will not lose any presets but will need to check your global settings are where you want them to be.

How are you monitoring your sound? What does it sound like using the HD500 headphones?

A global settings reset is recommended everytime you update. It generally leads to issues like these if you don't do it. Actually, I'm not sure why Line 6 doesn't make it mandatory with every update.
