(Part of a sporadic, if highly questionable, series to not only celebrate Ron M’s elevation to “expert” status by Line 6, but also to firmly re-affirm his firm determination to remain a fully ...and firmly... independent end-users’ advocate. With or without additional firmware.)

Introducing The XD-VU85 Base Station & BPU85 Beltpack Concept:

XD-VU85s to be eight (“U” for) universal transceivers in a single rack-mountable base station, user-configurable, within Line 6‘s existing XD-V RF architecture, to be either transmitters or receivers. (I'm suggesting only eight to leave “space” within that 2.4GHz architecture for possible channel re-allocation to avoid WiFi.)

It's noteworthy that analog transceivers require complex RF filtering to their multiplexed Tx and Rx antennae systems for full duplex operation, (continuously sending while simultaneously receiving) due to the feedback issues that must attend the co-location and/or the "sharing" of those antennae.

While this will still remain a complex matter, I would have thought that digital techniques must surely allow the development of more effective, compact and lighter means of common-mode rejection.

BPU85s to be universal beltpacks that can similarly be either transmitters from TA4F-connected sources, or the drivers of 3.5mm mini-jack connected personal monitor systems.

Only one function at a time would mean that the same antenna can much more easily be used for either, ...but a full duplex option, a wireless transmitter beltpack with in-ear monitoring would be the answer to many performers' prayers.
