Anyone have experience with Behringer MS16s?

I have a Crate PA system with 2 tower speakers that I keep in my basement that I use for tweaking my patches on my 500X. However, for general practicing, I keep my 500X upstairs and either practice using combo/front mode into my Peavey amp or just by using some PC speakers hooked up to the headphone jack.

Since I've got the Create PA system for patch testing with FRFR, I'd like to get a fairly inexpensive set of powered monitors to get a better sound upstairs when I'm up there practicing. The POD sounds great through my amp, but I don't always want to change output mode and flip the amp/line switch when moving back and forth between the amp and the other setups. I also don't want really big monitors upstairs, which is why I keep my PA in the basement.

These seem to get decent reveiws:

Has anyone used these with a POD or had any experience with these powered monitors? Or are there any recommendations for something in the same price range and size that would be better?

WOW! Those things look exactly like my Roland MA-8 pair! I mean exactly! I don't know if they still make the Rolands but I have used them since they first came out. Don't expect a wall of sound out of them but just messing around in your room should be fine. The bass and treble knobs come in handy to tweak that top end tweeter. Although, the bass is a little flabby if cranked too much.

I don't know how you feel about used gear but you should be able find the MA-8s pretty cheap or at least in the same range. Check around.

While they are real cheap I'd go for a pair Sudio monitors like the KRK acrtive rokets. There much much better but very costly.

Or even a Behringer Sudio Monitors are better than a powered speaker. Even as computer speakers they wouldn;t be as good as a pair of Roland Edirol micro series monitors.

It will serve more uses, Your HD for practice, recording software monitoring, Parties!

The reason is you want as flat as a response from the speakers as possible so in the studio you know what you hear is what is there and not colored by the speaker.

Normal Hi Fi speakers tend to hype the bass and treble coloring what you hear so when you mix your record it doesn't sound good on anything else.

Playing live is a different story

Take a look at these Behringer studio monitors.  I think you would definitely prefer these over the MS16s for not much extra money.  100w bi amped with multiple inputs and USB connectivity... pretty good.  My only gripe is the proprietary connector to the other speaker but not a deal breaker...

I was actually looking at the KRK Rokit 5 last night and thought it looks like a good fit.

I do like the look and description of the Behringer Studio 50USB, too, and like that it has 2 speakers for stereo.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. All of these look like better options than the MS-16s without having to spend to much more.
