Line6 Products totally let me down on an EU tour

Recommended Posts

I recently completed a European tour as guitarist for a well known international act. For this tour I purchased a Stagesource Lt2 and Pod HD500x. Thankfully I brought my Marshall as a backup because on the first day of the tour the Stagesource started producing a distorted sound, and a few days in the Pod switches became faulty and kept switching the pod into tuner mode. I ended up using my marshall for the remainder of the 6 week tour.

This was extremely disappointing as I've always been a supporter of Line6.

Has anyone else had an experience like this with these products. I've read people on this forum before saying that L6 products are not gig worthy I now understand this sentiment and will have difficulty trusting this company again for live use. L6 support has been pretty poor considering my high profile failure with their products.

Anyone got any ideas what I should do?

I can't imagine going on a tour without backup gear and you had backup gear and it saved you.

Anything can break and more complicated the device the more possible points of failure.

My experience has been that if the device in question works for more than a week out of the box it will probably be fine. I am not sure if it is a question of burn in time or not performing any burn in on these devices. Also gear such as this is much more sensitive to bad voltage or current, and spikes can damage or destroy this type of gear. Low voltage can cause reboots and all sorts of crazy stuff.

My experiences with a POD 500 and L2m have been great with no breakdowns.

bro that totally sucks... I hate to hear this because I have had nothing but good results with mine.  There are a ton of things that can go wrong with any electrical gear, especially when its basically a computer at heart.  Of course reflashing the firmware, global reset and calibration but when you are ready to play, it has to work.  There have been a lot of guys with FS issues on the "upgraded" 500X.  Check some of the other related threads in this forum.  One would think Line 6 would have corrected this for all users...

BTW, I see your bandmate has the older POD, any issues with his?  Did you use the HD500 when you recorded your album/vids?  Very nice work...

Cheers for the replies, Yep radatats that's a UX2 on all my albums, it has served me we'll. Thanks for checking us out :)

I suppose my post was just a rant, I was so annoyed by both things letting me down, I wouldn't have been as angry if it wasn't such a great system, I had very high hopes cos it sounded awesome before it blew. Looks like I'll get them fixed under warranty so: result, I will use this system again but only for local gigs,
