Please help me create an ambient swell tone

Hi,

I just purchased a POD HD500X and i think i'm in over my head. I've spent a week or so trying to figure it out and i think i need to go back to square one. Because i still consider myself a guitar amateur, i'm finding it difficult to get a specific sound i'm after. If you can be bothered watching, it's the one shown in this video:

I'm not sure if the device is even capable of replicating this sound, but i don't even know where to begin. I've played around with a few delays and reverb combinations but it's nowhere near the sound i'm after. Trouble is, i don't even know where to begin or what to tweak to even come close. As a result, i've found myself looking up glossary of guitar effect terms and watching countless tutorials but i'm still scratching my head.

I've downloaded the ambient swell patch that some fellow was awesome enough to upload and i've tried tweaking it a little but in all honesty... i have no idea what i'm doing.

If anyone cares or has the time to share any information with me on how this type of sound might be achieved, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch

Combination of Volume pedal controlling volume going into a reverb with a very long decay. You see him rocking his foot forward to raise the volume slowly for each new note being played - you need to do that (or use the guitar volume knob).

Particle verb does this quite well this video shows (not me)
