Recording guitar sound with microphone (Toneport UX1)
by jcksn82chrvl on 2013-03-10 15:48:40

I tried to record guitar with microphone with my UX1.

I have an all tube amp, with a 4x12 cabinet, and an sm57 mic.

Everything was OK, but the sound is not really good.

I used the "modern" preamp in the POD farm for recording.

Have anybody experience in this question?

Wich preamp is the best choice for record guitar?

Does the preamp singificantly affect the sound character?

I have tried to change the mic placement, and use the EQ knobs, but the character of the sound didn't change.

I would use no amp or effects and record the sound straight through to your recording software.  Do all of your post record processing there.

I didn't use any effect, only the Mic preamp in the pod farm.

I didn't know it is possible to record without preamp selected.

I asked this question on another musician forum, and they also recommend this.

Next time I will try to record the dry signal.

Thanks for response.
