Pod X3, One or Two Studio Monitors?
by guitarajax on 2013-03-17 11:18:47

Just wanted to get peoples opinion.

I want to finally buy studio monitors for my pod x3 and i never use dual tones and have all my tones balanced equally left and right.

Do i need to spend the extra money and buy two monitors or would one be good enough?

Basically i want make my pod to act as a modeling amp. Currently im using a mustang 1 and want to sell it and just use my pod (which im using headphones with right now)

Also, what would be the minimum speaker size for this situation?

Even though you balance equally, are you sure you do not have any stereo seperation from effects?

But either way if you are ok with mono than certainly you would be ok with one monitor.

Minimum size is subjective. 5" on one monitor may sound better than 8" on another.

But I personally would not go smaller than 6", and only one monitor would drive me nuts!!

Why not just simply adapt some computer speakers? Get a set that has a separate subwoofer. You can get them in all sorts of price ranges and you will get the benefit of separation should you ever have the wild hair to use dual tone (sweet, sweet stuff if separated properly) or a inheret stereo effect such as a phaser, some tremolos or delays. At Best Buy's music department you can get a mini-plug to dual 1/4" cables and if you need one a miniplug gender changer.

The information above may not be current, and you should direct questions to the current forum or review the manual.
