Help: Sound cuts out on all computer programs with UX1? (ESN: Error, Driver Operating At: inactive)

Configuration: I have my surround sound system hooked up to the analog outs. I have my desktop speakers hooked up through the headphones.
Computer Specs: Custom built desktop. (I can include more specs if necessary) Windows 8. 64 Bit.
Problem: When I am using skype for video chat the sound periodically goes out to the whole system. that means everything is without sound and i cannot switch back to the sound card on my motherboard because...i dont know why it just dosent work. It is better some days than others. sometimes not at all for days. sometimes 20-30 times a day, depending on how much patience i have for rebooting my system.
What I Have Tried Already: USB cable with filters at both ends. reinstalling the drivers and other asociated files. Adjusting the bit depth. buffer size.
If you have any solutions or see anything I am doing wrong to cause this problem please let me know.

Take a seat and join the rest of us... Same problem here, as it is with a lot of other people too. I don't even have Skype or any webcam hardware. There are no solutions unless Line 6 fixes their drivers, which has taken years now, considering there was exactly the same problem with Windows 7.
