using M13 as footcontroller
by dschaaf on 2013-03-22 06:03:38

Hi,

Is it possible to use the M13 (in addition to all its own features) as a midi footcontoller? I really just want to use the footswitches to send a cc to toggle on/off fx in other devices.

Is it possible to assign a CC to a footswitch or is the CC for FS1 , for example, hardcoded in?

Thanks,

D

You can't assign different MIDI commands to the footswitches, but the M13 does send out MIDI messages when you hit the footswitches. Essentially it mirrors the commands associated with whatever you're doing. So if you select a scene, it will send out the PC message associated with that scene. If you're in a scene and turn an effect on or off, it will send the CC message associated with that scene.

There are ways you can use this to you advantage. For example, with the aid of a MIDI Solutions Event Processor, I have it set up so that when I change scenes on the M13, different presets come up on my Strymon TimeLine and Mobius pedals. I also tied the tap tempos of all these pedals together so the M13's tap is the master for all of them.
