HD500 Up/Down Switches not working
by auto5starz on 2013-03-24 15:06:42

I noticed that my HD500 Up/Down Switches on the left side have stopped working!

Any Ideas what happened or what I may have accidentally changed?

OK, there are a few things to try before admitting it's a hardware (switch) failure.

Please see this link... starting about half way down. There's a lot of stuff so I'd read it all.

1) I would back up any presets you want to save, then use Line 6 Monkey to reinstall the latest firmware.

2) Try reflashing your unit's Flash Memory.  Do not keep your existing presets and when you have completed the update reset the HD500 Global Presets by holding doen the left button on the 4 way Nav Pad as you apply power  (you will have to recalibrate the expression pedal).

If it still doesn't work as expecyed, put the unit in TEST mode by holding down the right button on the 4 way Nav Pad as you apply power and then run the tests on the foot switches.

Yes, I tried all this earlier this afternoon,  When I rans switch test all buttons changed 0's to 1'1 except the up/down banks switches on the very far left.

But there w ere three pair of 00's that didn't change & only 2 switches???

I'm probably going to need new switches I' thinking but when I go to "find a service center & put in my zip code & set it to the max distance to1000 & come up with no results!!

Is there a service senter or authorized service center in west USA?

Im in AZ.

Also when I ren the system test, the led's on the ^&v  switches worked!

It seemes that the switches themselves are probably the problem even

though they light up(only in the TEST) !!!!!!

         UP/Down  Switch's NOW WORKING !!!!!!

Since my 500 was purchased used,  I figured, Ok no chance of any warranty exchange so I opened up the 8 screws on the bottom

to look inside. I was thinking I may try to get a couple new switches & replace the two.

In looking at it I saw a 1/2 to 3/4" 6 or 8 pin ribbon cable that went from the main circuit board to the middle one & then plugged Upward into the lower.

With gravity in mind I unplugged the connector the plugged it back in!

VIOLA,   switches are working fine now & have been every day for a week & 1/2 now!!!!!!

Hope this helps anyone else that has the same problem with a unit that is not under warranty!

KEEP JAMMIN !

Nice one Bruce.   I am starting to get trouble with my up/downs so I will give this a go.  That and some switch cleaner spray.

My problem at the moment is 'double clicking' on the switch which is a real PITA so I hope it works.
