urgent help needed from Cubase + POD HD experts . problem in output routing
by neerajan on 2013-04-08 11:15:34

hey guys ...i've been using my POD HD 400 as an interface and recorded entire demos for my band for the last one year or more...using Reaper..never had a problem..i would use the Wave Out preferance where i would monitor my playing outside the computer through an amp..and then playback through the computer speakers ..only recently i've started trying out Cubase 5. i've set the input device as POD HD 400 which has by default set the output as POD HD 400 too ! And that's what i dont want. this way ..the playback is happening through my amp..how do i change the output to work with my computer speakers?! i've pressed F4, gone to the output tab, tried out adding separate/ a second stereo bus but still, the output device remains POD HD 400. how do i change this? realy need to hear the take playback through computer speakers

The ASIO protocol specifies that the same audio device be used as both the input and output device. In this case it is the Pod HD. Connect yourt computer speakers to the Pod HD outputs. All compliant ASIO drivers, including the Line 6 ASIO driver, conform to this specification. What you are experiencing is normal ASIO (and Line 6) driver behaviour.

If you need to leave you speakers connected to your computer, and you still want to use the Pod HD USB connection as your interface, one way around it (which I don't recommend) is to use a non-compliant ASIO driver such as ASIO4ALL rather than using the Line 6 driver for the Pod HD. Although this may get you what you want, it may also cause other recording problems - and, as mentioned, is not supported by Line 6.

hey man thanx for the ideas ..1stly ..ya the using of ASIO4ALL altogether wont be helpful at all..it will create lots of latency i think ...2ndly ..my computer speakers ryt now is a simple creative 2.1 ..so its cables wont go in any of the POD's outputs ..3rdly..reaper did not pose this problem..anyway i can get cubase to work the same way?

Your Creative 2.1 speaker cable will probably connect to the HD headphone output. If not you may need appropriate adapters; they're cheap and available at any audio store.

Somewhere in Cubase there will be a menu/panel to configure your Audio Setup. Find that panel and select the HD400 and its ASIO driver as your audio device.
