DT-50, HD Pro and L 6 Link not working after DT25 died and Tech Bulletin 59 done?
by spikey on 2013-04-20 11:40:47

I just had My DT-50 updated by a Line 6 listed qualified service tech last week, and it plays with the Guitar alone just fine, however when I tried to use Line 6 link to hook it up between the amp heads and the Pod HD pro, the DT-25 amp died as soon as it was switched on, and the DT-50 wont make a sound now either using the VDI Variax input or the standard 1/4" jack thru the HD-Pro with L6 Link.. Coincidence? I cant see how doing the upgrade fuse change (tech Bul 059) would cause another amp to die completly and cause the L6 Link not to work too... Too many variables involved, but they are not working now... Loads used were 16 ohm Marshall cabinets for both amps with NO attenuators involved, fyi...

Im using the same XLR cables that worked before between the three units... There is only one way to hook L6-Link up between amps and the HD-Pro because of the gender connections.

I have filled out a ticket on the DT-25 as it is still under warranty, but I am wondering if the DT-50 and or the HD-Pro is damaged as well now....

I have RTFM and in the HD-Pro setup pg's 9 internally it does not show that the DT50 is indeed linking with the HD-Pro as the manual suggests...

I have re- flashed both the DT-50 and HD-Pro units since this happened.... No help.  Pod HD Pro works fine on its own too...

Did the DT25 take out the HD-Pro's L6-Link comms as well as the DT-50's when it went south? Do I need to make another ticket, and if so, for which units???

Any suggestions on what to do next?

Update: Things just didnt add up so I took a look myself...

The Line 6 Service Tech left off the ribbon connection from the "A25 Speaker-L6-Link-foot board"  to the "A25 main board" inside the amp head....

I know this because all was working before I took it in, and its a very short ribbon cable, couldnt have come off without help. Go figure....

Thats the signal path ribbon cable for the Line 6 Link connection to work... I found it dangling inside the chassis...

Once the connector was put back on its port and the amp re-assembled, all is fine now with L6-Link and the DT50 and Pod HD.

Altho I still need the RMA ticket for the DT25, as its dead as a hammer...., Its nice to have some things working again.
