What is the best way to connect a Vetta 2 head to a Dell Dimension 5100 desktop pc? Any help would be appreciated.

Get yourself the M-Audio Uno MIDI/USB interface, don't get any other brand because they are all unreliable.  You will also need 2 MIDI cables.  Connect the M-Audio Uno to a USB port and then connect the 2 MIDI cables to the interface and your Vetta II.  Keep in mind that this only gives you control over the Vetta, it will not transmit audio from the Vetta II to your computer.

If you want to record the audio there are a few options.  The best is to get a good quality sound card (or better still a UX8) that has S/PDIF in on it.  Use the digital out (S/PDIF) on the Vetta II to run the audio from the amp into the computer sound device for recording.

Cheers,

Crusty

Hi

I bought the m-audio uno, installed its drivers, connected Vetta II to computer like you said and nothing's happened. The yellow light of m-audio signed "USB" was lit, the computer detected usb device (at least there was the sound informed the usb connection and an inscription), but there wasn't any icon... I turned an amp on, and nothing. Is there something more i need to do?

Cheers

Michal

The Vetta talks to the computer via a program called "Line6Edit".  You can download that program here on the Line6 website.

http://fr.line6.com/software/index.html?set_form=&submit_form=set&submit_query.x=39&submit_query.y=15&submit_query=submit&hardware=All&name=Line+6+Edit&os=All">http://fr.line6.com/software/index.html?set_form=&submit_form=set&submit_query.x=39&submit_query.y=15&submit_query=submit&hardware=All&name=Line+6+Edit&os=All">http://fr.line6.com/software/index.html?set_form=&submit_form=set&submit_query.x=39&submit_query.y=15&submit_query=submit&hardware=All&name=Line+6+Edit&os=All

The best procedure is to download a program called "Line6 Monkey" first.

Monkey should download the latest version of Edit for you (just follow the instructions) and will also make it possible to update the firmware in your  Vetta if you wish to do that (be careful).  The latest firmware version for the Vetta is 2.50.

Good luck,

Joe

Right! I totally forgot about Monkey. I have this softwear couse I'm using UX1. I installed Line6 edit with Java and when I'm trying to run Line 6 edit the error appears :

"Type : java.io.IOException

Message: System can't found the wright path"

If you're using Windows, you can go to "add remove programs" via control panel and remove anything that has the word Java in it (you may have several versions).  Then reboot, reinstall Java, reboot again, and try Line6 edit.  If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to try to get some advice from Line 6 by creating a support ticket.

Good Luck,

Joe
