Flextone III - Connecting another amp
by mhopkinson on 2009-10-20 08:33:19

Hi,

I have a Flextone III (the origional basic one without a direct out, or additional output for an extension cab).

I want to get a bigger sound, it's loud enough, but not big enough.

I have a PA head and a couple of 1 x 12" speakers and thought I could plug my Flextone III into this, the only this is how?

Can I take a line out of the effects loop?

Would it cut off the power amp i.e. does it need a return?

Another option would be to get another Flextone III and control that by MIDI from the first amp, but I'm a guitarist and MIDI is for keyboard players!

My first choice would be to use the PA amp as it wouldn't require any more cost.

Anyone any ideas??

Hello,

Your options will be limited with the original Flextone III, as there is no line out or XLR output. Yes, you will need to run the send and return to the amp to have the internal speaker work.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

I don't know if you found a solution or not, but if you're already thinking of buying another amp to get that bigger sound, then why not ditch your original Flextone and upgrade to the Flextone III Plus?

It has two separate 75w amps (Same as the XL), but only one is connected to its 1x12 speaker. The minute you add an extension speaker cabinet, you instantly power up that second amp and transform a very good, 75w combo amp into an incredible 150W stereo spread. To add to that, the POD X3 live connected to this amp/speaker combination is UNBELIEVABLE.

I have a Flextone III XL with 2x12s. Will the second 75 watt amp power up if I add an extention cabinet or does it already power up? What are the ohm considerations if I need to add an extention cabinet to fire up the second amp?
