GearBox Code 80000003 could not create a thread
by philsid on 2010-04-11 11:38:04

Pod X3 Pro

GearBox 3.72

iMac Intel, Snow Leopard 10.6.3

Ever since upgrading to 3.72, the first time I try to launch GearBox I get the above-referenced error code.  Typically, I can quit and launch again and it works.

Solution?

Bump?

don't know about the error code specifically... but i've seen quite a few quirky errors fixed specifically for the x3pro by flashing the latest update a second time...

select flash memory and choose reinstall latest....

don't know if it will help, just something to try.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I re-flashed, but that did not solve the problem.

I'm sure tech support has bigger fish to fry, but just so they know, there does seem to be a bug in the system somewhere.....

Hello,

I just set this up on my Macbook Pro with OSX 10.6.3 and could not reproduce.

I connected my POD X3 Pro and launched Gearbox 3.72 and it loaded fine with no error message.

have you tried reinstalling Gearbox? Also, we just released a new driver today. Try updating and see if that helps.

Thanks for giving it a look.

I installed the new driver.  Launched Gear Box.  Same error code.

I reinstalled Gear Box.  Launched it.  It worked!

Then I restarted my iMac Intel and tried again.  Same error message.  Grrrr.

i'm getting the same error in the same situation

imac intel, 10.6.3

toneport di-g

gearbox 3.72

i believe i updated to 10.6.3, and that broke my 3.70 build. so updated to 3.72, got the threading error. relaunch and works. restarting repros this everytime.

Sorry to hear you're having the same problem, but relieved that I'm not alone.

Currently, I would characterize the problem as intermittent.  Sometimes it starts right up, sometimes I have to exit and try again.

Hello,

It seems like an intermittent issue and one of our other support guys here actually just experienced the same error message. He closed out and relaunched and it hasn't happened again.

We'll go ahead and log a bug (we managed to capture a screenshot of the error) and we'll make sure to let it be known that other people are experiencing the same problem.

Thanks for the heads up on this. We'll do what we can to find the root cause.

I get the same error and then try a second time and its fine. The difference is that I'm running Leopard 10.5.8 (Intel) with Gearbox 3.72 against a TonePort UX2.

I have the same problem.  That's because it's a bug - there is something that doesn't 'line up' with the Mac OS.  Hopefully L6 will address it promptly._

Did you guys find out the solution to this issue with this yet? I have the same problem and no way to fix it...

Same issue. First time I launch, it crashes with that code. Try again, and it works fine.

Intel Macbook, Os X 10.6.3, Toneport UX2

Same Problem.  What I do is open Monkey before, after that GearBox works fine. I let you know if I solve the issue.

I'm a huge fan and an avid user. I use a Pod UX2 (live for one-man-band solo shows) and for home playing/recording. In my little home studio, I use a KB37 for keyboard stuff and modeling guitar and bass when I don't record with amps. My son uses an older TonePort UX1. I have a little Pod GX for travel purposes when I know I won't be using mics or any of my expensive model packs. (We've upgraded three of these to all the available model packs... the GX is very important for travel and for jams and for demo-ing, I just don't have the cash for another round of model pack purchases).

These items float around amongst my iMac Dual core 2 (Snow Leopard, up to date), my MacBook Pro (Dual core, Snow Leopard, up to date), and the kids' (original series) Intel mac Mini (Leopard, up to date).

In each and all of my situations, the first launch of gearbox crashes with the above-mentioned error. No biggie, just re-launch.

Except its annoying. And it often introduces noise into some of my recordings if I don't quit and re-launch the GearBox tool a third time. When you've got a nice pre-amp running in front of a "to-die-for" guitar, and some very customized model tweaks, it's a little sad to have to have to re-record excellent material because close inspection reveals unusual noises (happens with direct input with no tube pre, with the absolute latest drivers and Line 6 Apps.

I love this stuff. Period. The problem is an annoyance, not the end of the world.

The monkey is great, as is the new license manager. GearBox is a good tool that's industry-standard stuff (I REALLY wish the window was resizable and that I could add more parts to the pedal chain!).

Now, to wait for OSX Lion stuff to come through and maybe a dot release of the drivers?

okay, here we are, almost 2 years since the original post! Line 6, what's the deal? Have we come up with a solution yet?

Hey Line6Miller, so is there an update on this? I see you suggested that the support team has in fact experienced this bug, however, that was almost 2 years ago. Can you provide an update on this issue? I'm sure the others who are experiencing this issue would like to hear some kind of crumb of an update as well.

Cheers!

FWIW, this has never resolved for me.  At least it's not preventing me from using the device and the software.
