LINE 6 WIRELESS G90 MUTING.
by renebrnon on 2010-07-03 22:14:02

First time many thanks to DBOOMER for his quick answer. I´ve got one question more : If I connect G90 with tuner (KORG DTR-1000), muting is not absolutely silent, my guitar is heard. After jack pull-out from "tuner output" on G90 is comming desired silence. My head doesn´t understand.... Did You meet with this speciality??? Thanks, RB.

I haven't seen that.  I'll try it out next week and let you know.

So you are running out to your tuner with a standard 2 conductor guitar cable?  Is your tuner battery operated or connecter with a power supply?

Yes, cable is standard 2 conductor jack - jack, short and new one in top quality, KORG tuner is working with power supply only, it is rack version. Do You mean just power supply can play some role? It is interesting, why not...? I will try more alternatives and combinations tomorrow and let You know too. Many thanks, Rene, Czech Republic, EUROPE 230V.

Can you please send me the serial number of your G90 receiver?

S/N of Receiver is MRR0M6016004749. I just finished testing procedure, problem is really on "phantom" loop between G90 and KORG tuner. If is tuner in OFF mode, muting is OK, if is tuner ON, guitar is a little hearable. I tried put tuner out of rack 3 meters away - still hearable, then I tried push tuner plug to another power socket (even another current phase) - still hearable. Then I tried connect normal small digital tuner Ibanez LUIO 9V baterry powered - muting is working, guitar is not hearable. I am really very wondering, believe me. Thank You for Your help, R.

We've tried to duplicate your problem but have been unable to cause the problem.  I don't have that Korg tuner to test, however and I can't find any technical specs for it.  Maybe it has a very low input impedance??

A quick look around the web seems to turn up a number of DTR users that have mute issues.

I thought for low impedance too but KORG says input is "instrument" input, then it should not have low impedance even on the contrary. I tried both inputs - front and rear - they do in the same way, no difference. Bassman in our band has KORG DTR-1000 too but for a lot of years older production, I will try it with that and let You know. Why did you ask for serial number? Is it possibility that just my receiver is not absolutely OK? Thanks and Regards, R.

Just wanted to try a G90 from the same batch to make sure nothing slipped in production.

Let us know what you find.

Hi, dboomer:-) ,

do You remember my problem with muting by Wireless G90?

Solving for absolute silent by muting with rack tuner Korg is only one :  DI BOX between G90 and KORG tuner with interupt gnd.

Did You find some news with this problem too?

Thanks for reply, Rgds, Rene.

I don't have a DTR to test with, but from your solution and the complaints from other Korg users it looks like the Korg unit suffers from a "pin 1" problem that using a DI fixes.

What is "pin 1" problem???

Thanks, R.

A poorly designed ground system where the jack ground does not directly connect to the power supply ground.

Hmm, is it possible tuner service reparation or necessary to use DI BOX?

Many thanks for suggestion, R.

No ... it would require a re-design of the Korg unit.  A transformer style DI provides complete isolation.

Hi, one more question for You - is some difference between transmitters from G90 and G50 sets? Marking is same but transmitting range by both sets is different. Thanks for reply, Rene.

Re: LINE 6 WIRELESS G90 MUTING.

They are identical.  The difference in range is in the capabilities of the receivers.
