Tone Edit controls don't work
by Fig5000 on 2009-04-20 07:36:32

I'm using a Pod 2.0 Pro with a mac g5 PC with OSX 10.5.6. I've installed Tone Edit version 3 and it sees the Pod ok but the tone controls don't connect to the sound. Tweaking them doesn't change anything. I had the same problem with the old Tone Edit recently, which is why I upgraded. Any thoughts?

Hello,

Have your downloaded the latest Line 6 software directly from the website?  Have you installed the latest drivers for your USB/MIDI device directly from the manufacturer's website?  Try this first, as well as removing all non-essential USB from your computer, being sure to connect your MIDI-USB cable directly to the computer (not into a hub).  If you are still having problems, try your POD with a different computer with the latest software installed.  If you are still having problems, your POD will need to be serviced.

Hi, I have upgraded the drivers you mentioned but there are a couple of things that seem odd. One is that the Monkey doesn't see the Pod Pro 2.0, either by searching or in the list of selectable units. So does this mean I'm using the wrong version of this software? The Tone Edit program, on the other hand, does see the Pod Pro 2.0 and loads the factory tones but will not send the tones to the unit when selected. It will, however, send tones from my saved library. The only problem there is that when I tweak them the changes can't be heard unless I save and reload the patch. Another thing that's weird is that I can't change the amp type - it switches back to the one saved with the patch. I don't believe there's anything wrong with the unit itself. I suspect, from the odd things I've described, that these versions of the software don't work with OSX 10.5.6 on my particular kind of MAC G5. Oh, and my Pod is connected via midi to a MOTU Midi Express 128 directly to the front of the computer. thanks, M

Just to double-check: you should've downloaded the Line 6 Edit Version 3.01.0

Installer (Released 1/1/07).

You might also try different MIDI cables between the POD Pro 2.0 and the MOTU interface. Also, try disconnecting the MOTU from the front USB port of your Mac and connect to a rear direct port. Please do not connect through a USB hub, as this is not a supported connection and will probably give incorrect communication between device and host computer.
