Cabinet Impedance
by pwbarber on 2011-05-22 17:02:08

Hi all

I've just purchased a 16 ohm extension cabinet Orange classic(2x Vintage Celestions) which I am very happy with. I run it from my SV MK1. I understand that I cannot use the internal speaker in my SV 112 at the same time as the extension cabinet. Is this correct and if so is there a way around it? I haven't tried plugging in the internal speaker as well as the external cabinet as I do not want to fry the amp - I thought I 'd better seek some advice first. Your help would be appreciated

Regards

Paul

PS The Orange cab has 2 1/4 inch inputs

you would need an 8 ohm extension cab (not a 16 as you've bought),  then you can use that with the internal speaker into the two 4ohm outputs.

Apart form that, there's no way to do it without risking damage to your amp.

Thanks Rowbi - I thought that might be the case
