JTV59 - can you replace VOLUME and TONE knobs?
by edstar1960 on 2011-09-05 07:21:25

Can you replace the VOLUME and TONE knobs on the JTV59 without invalidating your warranty?

If yes - has anyone tried this?  And if so, what alternative knobs did you fit?  What are the specifications for the replacements?

Anyone care to recommend any sutiable alternatives that will have a better grip for when hands get sweaty during a gig?

eg: metal knurled knobs similar to what you find on a Telecaster, rubber grip top hat style that you can find on a Les Paul style guitar, or ??

Thanks!

If you can find a knob that'll find the D-shaft (for the modelling/tuning knobs) without damaging the potentiometer, you won't invalidate your warranty.

As far as favorite knobs for standard volume/tone knobs go, maybe some of the other JTV owners can chime in with their suggestions. Mine are either Tele knobs or Gretsch knobs.

Hi,

I see no warranty problem when you replace the tone/volume knobs

just be very careful when you remove the originals, so you don't damage the pots.

Thanks very much for the confirmation.

Are there any JTV59 owners out there who have chosen to replace their volume and tone knobs? And if so, what did you replace them with?  Thanks.
