crackle and white noise bursts. oh and latency in ableton.
by GlassjawTTT on 2011-12-08 06:54:22

just bought the ux2 and installed it on my laptop (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1080748">http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1080748">http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1080748) and there is a constant crakling sound and sharp, loud bursts of white noise. i've disabled my computers wifi and anti-virus and it still persists. i tried installing it on another laptop which is also a torshiba and it works fine. but i need it on this laptop. my brother also has a ux2 and a very similar computer with similar specs and his works like a dream. i have tried reinstalling and reinstalling the drivers and everything and the crackle and white noise is still there. i've tried different guitars and cables and headphones also. please help!

Just for clarification, are you using the most recent drivers which can be downloaded here? (Monkey should have green ticks for drivers/firmware)

If so, please see this USB Troubleshooting doc.

yeah, all the drivers and firmware and all that fun stuff are ticked and green. is there any issue with my computer not being good enough? o've done all the trouble shooting and followed the video series about maximising windows 7 for audio too. would a PCMCIA USB card help atall? that's the only thing that i've not tryed in the trouble shooting.

Hi,

Bursts of while noise is common when a USB port underpowered. Are you using a USB hub?

Have you tired all of the USB ports on your computer?

If so, a PCMCIA Card might work to fix the issue.

Thanks,

David

For me it is similar problem and that apeared AFTER newer podstudio ux2 firmware 1.02. I have unistalled everything and installed everything fresh, but after new firmware I can't put extra small buffer size no more and I can't record guitar DIs through mic preamp because they give massive ground buzz.

So I wan't to know how is possible to roll back firmware.

EDIT: just unistalled with line6 unistaller latest driver and pluged ux2 and started Monkey. Gues what it shows that I have installed latest driver (i just unistalled it) seems that is causing my audio-midi device program crash after puting extra small buffer.
