GuitarPort gearbox hears guitdar but no sound.
by The_Airow on 2012-01-17 10:39:18

Installed GuitarPort using instalation CD and updated driver found on Line6.com when plugged in the light glows in recognition of sound from the guitar but headphones plugged in to the back don't hear anything. Additionaly the software doesn't show any signal or output sound and the tuner doesn't either. When trying to load a preset tone an error mesage pops up saying,

"DSP failed to load model correctly. You may not hear the selected model.

Reason: Hardware service unavailable or could not be opened"

I'm running windows 7 and I'm not sure if my laptop doesn't run the software correctly or what's up. The system requirements says I have 0MB of RAM and I have PIO enabled on one of my drivers "MATSHITA DVD-RAM." Please help and thank you for your time.

Make sure that you are running GearBox 3.72, it can be downloaded from the link below:

Make sure not to install the drivers that come bundled with it, in case you have I would suggest that you use the Line 6 Uninstaller located at the location below to remove your currently installed Line 6 drivers:

Windows 7/Vista  -  C:\Program Files(x86)\Line6\Tools -  Line6Uninstaller

Make sure to disconnect any of your Line 6 USB devices prior to starting the uninstaller. Make sure to only check the boxes at the bottom of the list that are related to the Line 6 drivers, and proceed to uninstall them. Once they are removed, restart the computer. Upon restart download the latest Line 6 Window Drivers from the link below:

Windows Drivers 4.2.5.1:

Make sure not to connect your Line 6 USB device until prompted to so at the end of the installation process. After connecting it, make sure and look towards the Windows system clock for a notification that Windows has detected your device and has successfully installed the drivers before moving forward. If you do not receive this notification message, make sure to try reconnecting the Line 6 hardware to each available USB port until you have exhausted all available USB ports. Once Windows has detected it, you can relaunch GearBox and make sure to configure GearBox to use the GuitarPort hardware, this is configurable from the hardware tab of the preferences menu.
