Broken preset knob on HD500
by Leftzilla on 2012-01-20 07:08:27

Managed to break the preset knob on my HD500.  Feels like the entire pot has sheared off internally.  Is there any other higher function this knob has other than scrolling the the setlists?  It doesn't seem to have impinged on the functionality of the HD500  other than making not fully functional stand alone.  also did know if anyone has dealt with opening up the unit andhhow hard it would be to replace.  Thanks for any comments ahead of time.

My know is not broken but loose, I got the unit second hand so I'm out of luck, if anybody knows what part should work as a replacement it would be incredibly useful so I can do the repair myself (maybe).

I'm sure you've considered the obvious - but if the device is still under warranty that sounds like it would be covered.

My knob is broken, or loose (however you want to describe it). It feels like it is completely detached from its original position. It pretty much does nothing if you twist it, but if you wiggle it around, sometimes it does random things (like goes to the set list screen, changes presets, etc.). I don't have enough money to go get it repaired, and it is already out of warranty. Could I fix it by uncrewing the four screws around the screen, and reattaching the knob from the inside?
