What do I need for a POD 400?
by xAKUM3TSUx on 2012-03-02 13:54:47

Hi I am new to the community and I have a "Line 6 Spider IV" 75watt amp in my room. I'm really getting interested in the "POD HD" series (HD 400 in particular) and I was just wondering what I would need to connect it to my Spider IV 75 and also if I can connect it. I've heard that it is possible but before I buy it I would like to know how to hook it up and the instructions to do so. Thank you!

Hi,

The best way to connect an HD500 to a spider is through the CD/MP3 input. This will bypass the preamp in the spider. Keep in mind that the volume will be controlled on the 400. HD400 L/Mono Out>Spider IV CD/MP3 in. You'll need a cable like this:

+1 Line6David

An alternative approach is to plug the HD into the main input of the Spider then power up the Spider while holding down the 'Tap' Button.  This bypasses the pre-amp modelling section on the spider and should give you a nice clean route into the power amp.   Make sure the master on your HD is low though cause, IIRC, the master volume on the Spider might get disabled also

Thank you both for your input. I am now more confident to get one. I really appreciate the helpful info.
