Toneport GX vs. Windows 7
by milpool87 on 2012-05-08 11:46:52

Hi everyone,

I'm sure other people have had problems running their Toneports under Windows 7 - at least I've read one or two other threads with troubleshooting advice concerning this problem. Yet, after trying to put some of the advice into action, Windows still crashes after a few minutes of running Reaper (for example). It also happens with Skype sometimes. I don't know - shouldn't there be new drivers to fix the problem? Or is it a thing that Microsoft would have to fix? It really sucks not being able to record stuff anymore. I almost feel tempted to switch back to Windows Vista - that's how bad it has become!

I'd really appreciate it if there was somebody who could help me. Thanks.

EDIT: I might want to add that I have an Intel processor - no AMD (since they seem to cause troubles because of some USB filter issues).

Cheers,

Jossi

Not sure what you have tried so far.

But just for clarification, if you run the Line6 Monkey, do you have green ticks for everything?

Do you have you OS up to date and drivers for your pc's hardware?

Thanks for your quick reply.

Line 6 Monkey says everything is up to date. Windows is also up to date and I wouldn't know what other drivers to install - everything else is working fine.

We have recently released newly updated drivers, which can be downloaded directly from the link below:

Windows Drivers 4.2.5.4:

style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">I would suggest that you use the Line 6 Uninstaller located at the location below to remove your currently installed Line 6 drivers:

Windows 7/Vista  -  C:\Program Files(x86)\Line6\Tools -  Line6Uninstaller

Make sure to disconnect any of your Line 6 USB devices prior to starting the uninstaller. Make sure to only check the boxes at the bottom of the list that are related to the Line 6 drivers, and proceed to uninstall them. Once they are removed, restart the computer. Upon restart download and install the latest Line 6 Window Drivers from the link above.

I'm afraid I have to take my initial enthusiasm about the update: Although it seemed to work fine at first, the same problem (playback stopped working, plugging out and back in didn't work, reboot necessary) reoccured. Other people still seem to have the same problem after the update. I hope you guys can fix this. Cheers!
