Line6 XT live, new user.
by mike_bristol83 on 2012-05-13 15:00:33

I have just purchased a used XT live unit so decided i would get an idea of the working's and such before it arrives. Anyway i seem to have managed to confuse myself in regard's of what i need to dl/whats available etc. So i do apologise for the following Q's, i have searched but a lot comes up for other units.

I have downloaded Monkey, Do i need to download the Driver's aswell before connecting the unit to pc?

If i want to get tones from Custometone library, how do i load them onto the unit, what programme do i require ?

I thought it was possible to adjust setting's with the unit connected to pc, and edit them on pc. I thought i had found this that gearbox was the programme, is this a feww programme or is it not available anymore?

Also, in regards of the tones available, are all XT family tones compatible on all XT unit's ??

Again i do apologise for asking what are probably some daft questions.

Thanks

Monkey is the program you need to update everything. You will need the drivers to connect via USB. GearBox is the program you need to edit the XT's tones and save/load them etc. GearBox will also load the CustomTone tones as long as they are for your device (use the XT filter on CustomTone - the files should all be compatible with the possible exception of PodXT Pro tones that include a loop - but these are rare if any exist at all).

Be aware that you can also update the XT's flash memory to the latest if it is not already. However, if there are expansion packs on board (like Metal Shop, Bass Expansion etc.) then you will lose these in the update if the owner has not 'gifted' them to your account from his account.
